Mark

The photo depicts the moment the bodies of Romeo and Juliet are discovered. The design of the production was very stylised, with strong use of colour an important theme throughout.

To create the mood that we were looking to achieve with the scene, I used a strong wash of E68 from the back across the stage, with a barren tree breakup in E711 adding texture to the scene. E206 was used from the front to give an abstract streetlit look to the scene (the production had a very modern slant, and an important feature of the set was a prominent streetlight just out of sight of the camera, coloured in E653), but subtly without shifting focus from the cold, lifeless look we wanted to achieve.
