The design team moved the setting from the typical gymnasium to a theatre because this is the 25th spelling bee which is an important milestone. When looking at various regional, national, and global spelling bees we noticed they often had vertical columns in the background. We decided to recreate the feel of these columns using light. We used S4 PARs with VNSP lenses as the column uplight. These were geled with Rosco 317. We also used R56 which allowed us to create a more purple color. The cyc used Rosco's Cyc Silk colors (R124, R125, R126, & R127) which worked great for mixing any color we wanted on the cyc.
